Things To Know Before You Play Online Roulette

There are two types of people who start playing online casino; the ones that know what they are doing, and the ones who probably have never been in a brick and mortar casino before. If you found this article, I reckon that you are the latter. Online casino roulette is very similar, in fact, completely identical to its physical counterpart, but do you know that there are three types of roulette?

Knowing the difference between the three is essential to apply a proper strategy and win, a gambler must be well informed of the rules and odds of each bet in a game to better their chances of winning.

The Different Types of Roulette

Roulette is a game where a wheel is spun, and a small ball is thrown, in which you can put bets on which slots the ball would land numbered 1 to 36. The types of roulettes you would find in a brick and mortar casino would be the European roulette, the American roulette, and the French roulette.

These three will be discussed in this article, but I should warn you that some online casino creates a variant of roulette that takes from one or all of the traditional roulette types to make a more “exciting” version of their own. It would benefit you to carefully read their rules to know more about them and how to play effectively. For now, we will discuss the three types of roulette.

American Roulette

This variation of roulette adds a zero in the wheel, lowering your chances of winning, giving the house higher profits. It is very similar to French roulette, except for the addition of the double zero “00”, and not having the “en prison” of the French variant.

European Roulette

This variant gives the player a higher chance of winning compared to the American version, with only having one “0” in the wheel. Most players prefer this version as the odds are better.

French Roulette

The oldest of the three, some might consider it the original, though some historians trace roulette from the ancient Chinese with a darker history and more morbid results. French roulette is very much like European roulette, with similar odds, but fewer betting options.

Bets and Odds of Winning

Inside Bets

These are bets that you can find in the inner part of the table. All of them offer lower odds for the player, but with higher rewards. It is recommended to put in a relatively smaller amount (minimum bet) when starting out.
